Here's What You Should Wear To Pilates Class.

Updated: May 18, 2020

If you've never done Pilates before, walking into a Pilates studio can be very intimidating. But after a few sessions, you'll start to feel more comfortable; and you will want to make sure you are prepared for your very first session in the right workout gear.

REQUIRED!

Form-Fitting Workout Clothes (NOT BAGGY!!!)

When choosing your attire for your Pilates session or class, make sure to choose form-fitting workout clothes. This makes it much easier for me to see the alignment of your bones and to see which muscles are engaging--or not engaging--properly. Plus, several exercises are performed on your back or with your legs in the air. Form-fitting clothing helps to keep all areas of the body covered so you aren't embarrassed. Trust me, you definitely want form-fitting clothes--for the both of us. Enjoy 25% Off your first purchase at https://www.carbon38.com with code JACQUELINEHIN50 (enter this code at checkout).

Remove Jewelry & Accessories

There are lots of moving parts when using Pilates equipment and props. Any dangling accessories can be distracting and can easily get caught in the equipment.

Pilates Hair, Don't Care

If you have long hair, pull it back. Just like jewelry and accessories, hair can get caught in the equipment. Trust me, it doesn't feel good. I have found the best Pilates hair is a low pony tail or a bun on top of your head.

Unscented Products

Many people are sensitive to perfumes, lotions, deodorants, and other toiletries, so please refrain from strong scents.

NOT REQUIRED, BUT HIGHLY SUGGESTED!

Personal Pilates Loops

Pilates equipment comes equipped with stock Pilates loops. But, everyone who has a Pilates session or class puts their hands and feet into these same loops as you do. The loops cannot be wiped down or washed in between clients, so these loops are filled with other people's sweat, germs, and body oils. Luckily, you can take your very own Pilates loops to Pilates class with you. I stared Good Citizen back in 2015, launching the Pilates world's first personal Pilates loops. Sticky Socks

Pilates is done without shoes, but because you are in a public area, it is a good idea to wear sticky socks. Sticky socks are just like regular socks, but the grips on the bottom keep you from slipping during exercises. Here are a couple of my favorite brands:
